WIRE LUBRICATOR Thank you
for your letter of 23 June 1987 in which you raise matters arising from the
Masto Wire Rope Lubricator demonstration I witnessed at Bullivants Alexandria
on 18 June 1987. I confirm
that the demonstration carried out on a well used length of 32mm diameter
non-rotating wire rope showed the Masto lubricator
effectively
lubricated the rope from the surface right through to the fibre core
forced
out old lubricant and water (the rope had apparently been stored open to the
weather for some time) In my
opinion, the Masto lubricator can effectively meet the requirement for
internal lubrication of wire ropes, particularly the larger diameter ropes,
referred to in our Marine Notice No. 9/1987 and Section 10 of Australian
Standard AS2759-1985. Yours
