WIRE LUBRICATOR
During
a demonstration of Masto wire lubricator in Stacanger earlier this year, our
inspector Harald Lea was present. The lubricator was tested on a used steel
rope, and the following inspection showed that all openings in the steel rope
where filled with new lubricant, whilst the old stuff had been pressed out.
We
have often experienced that steel ropes are corroded from the inside because of
inefficient lubrication. This is difficult to obserce, and the consequence is
doubt at the inspection of ropes, whether or not they should be renewed. On the
one hand you may renew ropes earliger than necessary, and on the other risk
reduced safety. Regular use of an efficient wire lubricator will thus lead to a
higher lever of safety and better economy.
The
Norwegian Labour Inspection consider the Masto lubricator as a very useful
apparatus.
