SUBJECT: MASTER HIGH PRESSURE WIRE-ROPE LUBRICATOR
We
have had the pleasure of introducing and utilizing the Masto wire-rope
lubricator for the North Sea Oil industry. Initially we used it on the
Statfjord A-B and C and we have expanded it to Gullfaks field Gullfaks A.
Even
in the North Sea, with its well known weather serverity, the Masto wire-rope
lubricator has no problems in turning a dirty, difficult and often dangerous
job into a smooth running operation.
The
vast ammount of wire-rope on the oil rigs is G-Stranded nonerotating Dyaform,
multistranded rope. With a minimum of pressure 20-40 bar the Masto wire-rope
lubricator is able to squeeze out the old grease while applying the new. The
lubricant penetrates to the very core of three wire-rope.
The
Masto wire-rope lubricator has been instrumental in increasing the life span of
the wire-rope from 100-200% a major factor in work safety and economy.
The
Masto system is highly efficient, able to lubricate 180 or more feet wire-rope
per minute. The unique seals are extremely robust and able to withstand from
15.000 to 30.000 feet before replacement.
The
question of utilizing oil as a lubricant for wire-rope will always arise, but
in our opinion based on our vast experience under heaavy weather conditions oil
is no subtitute for grease, and will disappear as soon as applied.
Our
experience shows, that Masto wire-rope lubricator used in connection with a
well prepared wire grease gives the best result, that rust is held at bay,
friction is at a minimum. Both these factors play a major role in keeping down
labour and replacement costs.
The
Masto wire-rope lubrication system is very easy to use.
